Experimenting with blurring effects
I'm experimenting with blurring effects, to give the composition some depth because with solid shaders and lighting , it is very possible that it might end up being too flat , so hopefully by using certain blurring effects i can alter the perception of the audience by drawing attention away from the simplistic nature of the composition and draw their attention to focus on a surreal feeling of depth thru the combine use of blurring effects and experimental composition.

Fusing 3d's
Stereoscopic rendering seems to be creeping back in to relevance. With 3d movies being the new fad of our social indulgences.
It seems that it was inevitable that this idea would jump up and hit me in the face....I say Yes! dats it! stereoscopic image.
After some digging and wasted reading. Its possible! Maya is able to produce stereoscopic renders and this is would be a good opportunity to introduce an element of interactivity with audiences.

Test Comp
Test rendering of project garrincha..
Its coming along ....but it still needs work on the ambient mood and lighting.
What I achieve using the 3 shaded brightness works well with the concept, along with the colors
used, these 2 combine to give me the semblance of a comic noir aesthetic yet it doesn't quite capture it entirely , which is
exactly what I was aiming to achieve. To blur the lines of recognition and introduce a new perspective.

The jungle
Animatic
Ladies & gentlemen I present Garrincha..
Did this using after effects ,i made it resemble a motion comic for it to embody the
visual concept of a comic noir.
Score was done on sound edit with the help of my mate Dj Borchek.

Robot Minions
This is still a work progress, but its coming along fine using low poly characters .
I havent yet added in the some details , and colours and textures will be added on soon..like with its visor and also on the armour
to make it more defined ..because now it just too overwhelmed by the shader i applied.
Storyboards..
The storyboards went thru alot of changes since the beginning of the semester.
The main issues is that i am a beginner with maya and 3d softwares, so I had to consider carefully if what i wanted to do and if i could achieve the desired result at my skill level.
In the end this is the result...
It's goes like this Garrincha has to come up againts robotic minions of the devil in order to safe his soul. So he plays them for it.

BW&RED
Influenced by the movie concept for 2 hole punch by John McCrea.
The concept is combining film noir looks with elements of urban decay .
Using b&w on a red backdrop. I wonder now which one will work better.
Using the red & black on a orange backdrop or the former.
I am tilting towards the red & black for the characters because those colors seem to bring a certain radical, rebellious
charisma and it give it a more authentic look as well. I love b&w but these days it kinda over used ,so y not try something different.

Garrincha
Nike Mercurial by Paranoid US
As anticipation for the biggest football tournament of the year heats up, W+K Amsterdam brings Paranoid and director Edouard Salier back to Nike (see Nike Women) for another web-film with the theme of athletes and their battles against Mother nature. This time Nike offers up a solution; a shoe that reacts to the changing terrain (courtesy of Digital District, frequent collaborators of Edouard’s).

Coke Quest
Director Edouard Salier and production company Paranoid US deliver another amazing football themed spot in time for the World Cup. This time working for Coke, they tell a story in almost mythic grandeur of a boy’s quest for a personal and unique celebration. The spot elegantly shows the spirit of the game and isn’t too blatant in it’s delivery. Kudos to Coke for once again trusting in their audience to have some intelligence.

The Crazies Motion Comic Trailer
The Crazies Motion Comic, based on the comic books inspired by the remake of the George Romero classic film, traces an outbreak that takes over the minds and bodies of the citizens of Ogden Marsh, Iowa. When a disease that turns ordinary people into violent psychopaths, can anyone escape the madness?
David Wilson
All the animations seen in the music video were created in camera. No stopframe techniques, or computer super-imposing was used; what you see is what rolled off the camera. The animations in the side-on views were produced by the camera capturing the moving reflections from the mirrored carousels, and the animations in the top-down views were created by matching the cameras frame rate to that of spinning record. The transitions between each section of animation was created by simply cutting or wiping between the bits of footage.
All the animations were created, drawn and coloured by the director David Wilson.

The Crazies Motion Comic Trailer
There is now a new genre of comic, the motion comic.
It uses very limited animation and some visual effects .
It sort of reminds me of japanese anime but with even less animation and the tempo seems to be very monotonous.
But the artwork as usual are the attraction the motion is a supplement.
This link should explain it better http://newteevee.com/2008/07/30/the-rise-of-motion-comics-online/
There are opposition to it , saying it is just another way of milking the cash cow but i can see it actually becoming
the way comics will be indulged in future.
Javan Ivey "Stratastencil"
http://www.javanivey.com/my_paper_mind.html
An experimental animation exploring the "Stratastencil" technique that I've devised. Inspired by the Stratacut technique, Stratastencil is an additive process. Stratacut removes material to reveal another layer, while this technique adds another layer while still showing the layer before it.
Amateur Baratone Ukulele: myself.
(and yes, it's really paper)
This is an interesting technique. I actually looking to re-create its aesthetics into my animation.

Phonovideo by Clemens Kogler
Phonovideo is a VJ tool or visual instrument used to display animations in an analog way without the help of a computer. "Stuck in a Groove" is the first film made with this technique, it serves also as a demo for the technique .
In the future phonovideo should be used for live performances in cooperations with musicians, performancers and other artists.
The music for "Stuck in a Groove" was created by Richard Eigner/ Ritornell.
There's also a vimeo version of the film.
How it was done is explained in detail @ http://motionographer.com/2010/04/26/clemens-koglers-phonovideo/

Character update
At first i thought Garrincha should be in a shirt and cleats playing for Brazil in the Maracana.
But after further research into his personality, it is found that this man has almost no material
ambitions...he would trade it all..the fame, the glamour, the big stadiums the crowds..To be barefooted playing
pelada( spontaneous pick up games) with his friends and going hunting in the jungle, and of course consumption of Cachaca..

Shaders
New concept art
This piece represents the anime element of the animation i am going to produce.
I plan to use japanese anime techniques for the animation.
I particularly like how japanese anime uses alternative techniques to create an illusion of movement, and also
how japanese animators capture the moment of the dramatic height of a scene.
It is evident in all anime features and it enhances the emotional expects of the character and situation in a efficient
way..its also a creative way of exploring the use of time within a animated narrative.
Uses of this technique is also used in film in recent times...Bullet time in the matirix is one of the more recognizable films featuring this effect.

Time for the heavy legwork
It is time for me to finish what I've started and see it all thru.
Currently still struggling to finish my storyboards but , i think struggling might be too heavy a word in this case maybe hesitant might be the word i'm looking for.
Confidence is still running thru me , it will be vital for me now to utterly focus on what I need to achieve this term. Time to immortalize Garrincha!!!!
